I have always worked in the world and used my spiritual walk to help in the teaching and preaching of our Lord word. I today teach a Sunday School class at a God centered church in Sanford Fl. And I must say it had been a while sense my last looking at the Southern Baptist " Explore the Bible series". But sadly enough as the years go by we as a denomination are dumming down the word of God. This example is found in this quarters study in the Psalms. As we understand the Psalms should b sung. The cries of saddens for Gods protection and for He faithfulness to us when we are not to Him rings out. I have spent this week almost every night preparing for the teaching of one of the most used and greatest Psalms ever Psalms 23.Only six verses but in those we found the great comfort in the words. Thus the problem with this translation being used. I will give you just a few issues in this version of the Bible .
23:1. I have what I need.??????. This almost sounds like someone proclaiming there self centered look at Gods provisions. Better it say "I shall not want" God takes care of out wants. We will always not have all we need.
23:3- He renews my life. Again the English language has enough problems steeping up to the heart of the scriptures as we understand. Better to say "He renews my spirit" Is not that which is the only thing that sets value with us and the Lord.
I wrote the person who over saw this study. I asked him a couple questions . For example why in most of the verses that the reference to He meaning God was not captilized. This is a small almost unnoticeable error that leads to the other problems with this study. The original fathers would never think of a small h because they understood they were speaking of Pure Holiness. Finally we must turn back to the closet written translation to the word and TEACH our fellow Christians to STUDY. I look forward to your commits. But if they are to tell me that our brothers and sisters in Christ just couldn't understand the difficulties of the word than shame on you. We are to preach boldly the content and the exactness the bible has to offer.
God Bless
JohnAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10476206437722415118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4397514123435907580.post-13985251300441292482014-08-18T01:29:40.935+01:002014-08-18T01:29:40.935+01:00Not quite fair to claim that "love of Christ&...Not quite fair to claim that "love of Christ" is not in the Greek, given its occurrence in v. 19.James M.
